is this thing on?

a hem.

hello there -
been away for a while it seems...
can't chalk it up to anything but just plain not updating.
i've been reading everyone's blogs
and knitting on my stuff
but i just couldn't post
not really sure why - it's not that i had nothing to say - but more like i had too much to say. so many things going on, the house never ever is going to close, i've been chronicly ill, my dog has been ill, and to top it off, we are trying (to no avail) to get pregnant.

*sigh

anyway - i've missed writing. so here i am - back in the blog saddle - or blaggle. (HA)

i have pictures too!

behold - wips galore!

the very first husband sock...

Yarn: Lornas Laces Shephard Sock - Safari.
Needles: Clover Bamboo DPNs, US size 2
Pattern: Knitty's Socks 101
this has been frogged. i couldn't STAND the toe. i don't know what i did - i thought i followed the instructions but i guess not. the fit was great though! and i must say - turning the heel was a rush - all i could think about was "gotta do another one!" so i frogged it - and now i am swatching for Nona's sidewinder sock pattern

then i started on some baby socks...

same yarn, same needles
Pattern: Basic Baby Socks
i like these - but i didn't swatch (this is a lesson sock apparently) and they are entirely too large for the newborn i was knitting for. the good thing is that babies grow fast right?

then - because the sock knitting is like crack - one hit and you are hooked - i started this toe-up ribbed sock for me!

Yarn: Jojoland Melody, color Y23
Needles: Addi Size 2 circs
Pattern: On-Your-Toes Socks, Interweave Knits Summer 2007
i love love love knitting these socks. i am half-way up the foot and i just can't stop trying them on! i love the ribbing across the top of the foot. the only thing is this yarn is 100% wool - not too good for texas! oh well, i guess i can wear them for a couple of weeks in january.
also - notice that WONDERFUL stitchmarker? it's from Nora! i got two wonderful sets of them from Good Yarn Karma. she sent them all the way from austrailia to me in texas! i have been remiss in thanking her - and i am sososo sorry - i absolutley love them - and think what the ladies are doing over there is wonderful. go check it out - spread the love y'all.

i have some more stuff on the needles, but no photos -
the baby yoda sweater from dogs steal yarn...
this is going to be so cute!
i am knitting it in grey caron acrylic (requested) on size 10 clovers. my gauge is super tight - the pattern called for 6's i think!

i also finished the top down bonnet with anime character (TOTORO!) from hello yarn.
i gave it to mommy (my cousin-in-law) for the baby shower already, and i forgot to get a picture!
but, the baby is coming soon so maybe i can get an action shot!
i knit it in the same grey caron acrylic (again requested) on size 6 metal dpns.
it is the absolutley cutest thing ever!

Welcome back! It's always so nice to see another sock knitting convert. I think it's the heel turning that does it. I always feel like shouting "I'm the Smartest Knitter in the World" when I'm done.

that's EXACTLY how i feel! i actually stop numerous times to show off my fancy trick to my husband (who by the way acts like i totally invented knitting!)
