bubble gum bandit

so - i have been working on this scarf for my mother for christmas -
it's beautiful, and about 45% done.

the thing is, last night i was digging through my knitting basket
when i came up with my 45% done Arial scarf in one hand -
a size 8 bamboo needle in another, and no needle on the scarf.

hmmm...
it would seem the kitty knitty bandit has struck again.

husband and i tore up the house last night looking
for the missing needle, but the bandit has hidden it well.
